Kellyanne Conway Can’t Name One Black Person Who Works in the West Wing
On the day of Omarosa Manigault’s revealing ‘Meet the Press’ interview with NBC’s Chuck Todd, Kellyanne Conway appeared on ABC News Sunday Morning where host Jonathan Karl asked her who is the “most prominent, high-level African-American serving in the West Wing on President Trump’s staff.”

Conway seemed caught off guard by the question and had a tough time answering. After some dancing around, she first named Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson, who obviously works for the Department of Housing and Development, which means, wrong. Next!
After Karl pushed for someone “on the White House staff right now,” Conway finally came up with an individual simply named as ‘Ja’Ron,’ who has “been very involved with Jared Kushner and President Trump on prison reform.”
This mysterious Ja’Ron has since been identified by ThinkProgress as Ja’Ron Smith who is the Director of Urban Affairs and Revitalization. The Washington Post‘s Josh Dawsey pointed out on Twitter that Smith is a “mid-level aide.” This would put him in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, which is next to the White House, which means he does not work in the West Wing. Close, but no cigar, Kellyanne.
